Welcome back to everyone, we hope you had a restful summer and are ready to participate in our new year. Each year our club has grown, last year was the fourth "March in the Park", again a great success! As a result, we presented merit awards to five high school students who expect to pursue a higher education in horticulture. Wekiva Youth Camp scholarships were awarded to four local youths, allowing them to attend Florida Federation of Garden Clubs youth camp. We continued our financial sponsorship of the Academy of Natural Resources at Island Coast High School. It is our intention to expand these efforts in the coming year. Our calendar includes various exciting activities and outings. The guest speakers at each monthly meeting will be of interest to our members, and the general public as well. These programs will further our goal of informing the participants about good gardening, plus environmental and conservation concerns. We will continue to promote civic beautification by working in the rose garden, library garden and city hall garden. Our membership outreach efforts at the Cape Coral farmers market and local native plant sales, allow us promote our club and its objectives. This year we are fortunate to have the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs 87th Annual Convention in our area. Some of our club members are already involved and I hope all who can will help at some point. I invite each of you to experience attending the convention to learn about the organization of which our club is a member. We challenge every one of our members to join a committee this year. Opportunities to contribute toward the growth of your club are varied and continuous. If you want your club to continue growing, we need each one of you to get involved and do what you can to help us achieve our goals. Again, welcome back to the 2012-2013 season and thank you for your support!
